Types of Portable Buildings and Their Uses

by sladetanner on April 27, 2010

There are many different types of portable buildings and they can be used for just about anything. These buildings are meant to be temporary rather than permanent. They are, also, known as modular buildings. Portable Buildings are built by your specifications and brought directly to your site. The most common portable building is the Portable Storage Building. It is cheaper way to expand storage space, when needed. They can be used by businesses or the homeowner. These storage buildings can hold stock, equipment, building supplies, or just extra furniture at home. A shed is a good example of a small Portable Storage Building. Although, they do come in all sizes for any need.

Another portable building is the Portable Office Building. This is a great option if a business has outgrown its current building. It can even be permanent, if needed. It is, also, good for office space during construction of a business. You can even find them with restrooms and air conditioning.

Then, you have the Portable School Building. You see these in several school districts. They allow for additional classroom space when the school becomes overcrowded. Since most school districts are on limited budgets, the Portable School Building is more realistic than building an entirely new building. These will, also, come with restrooms and air conditioning.

Most Portable Buildings are made out of metal or steel. Although, they can have any type of exterior finish. Portable metal buildings are strong and durable. They are, also, faster to construct than wood frame buildings. Portable buildings can be purchased, constructed, and installed by the manufacturer, by an independent contractor, or you can buy a Portable building construction kit and do it all yourself. If the building is only going to be needed for a short period of time, you can even rent one or search for a used Portable building to purchase at a lower price. You will see them online or in classified newspapers.

The very first Portable Building ever made was a Portakabin. It was built in 1961, in England. Portable Buildings have come a long way since then. They can be used as an office, a guard shack, an on-site changing room, a lunchroom, a classroom, a storage building, or anything else that you can possibly think of. If you are in the process of moving, you may need to leave some of your things in one place for a little while. Why not just rent a Portable Storage Building? All of your things will be safe and protected until you are ready for them. They are, also, great for retirees who need just a little more hobby space.

So, as you can see….no matter what your needs or how long you may need it, a Portable Storage Building can be the right move for anyone.
